Everyone is talking about the incredibly moving film, “Waiting For Superman”. The geniuses behind the movie at Participant Media have released a companion guide book for teachers, parents and anyone interested in being part of the movement toward positive change. Milk + Bookies was honored to have been mentioned as a resource promoting children’s literacy and service learning.

A special thank you to the generous and lovely photographer, Jamie johnson. She has spent the last 2 years, volunteering her time and talents (of which there are a lot) to snap great moments like these at our Story Time Celebration.
If you are in need of some pics, Jamie is your gal.

We had JUST mentioned our love of THE GUARDIANS and here is the dashing CHRIS PINE reading at our event. He is reading THE MAN IN THE MOON which is a great tie-in as he will be the voice of Jack Frost in the November 21st release of RISE OF THE GUARDIANS.
YAY! Counting the days!
So, as you might have heard us mention, we here at Milk + Bookies are BIG fans of William Joyce (Morris Lessmore, Dinosaur Bob and Wilbur Robinson).
The new picture book, MAN IN THE MOON, has been a favorite. Then we gobbled up the chapter books for “Nicholas St. North” and finally (so far), “E. Aster Bunnymund”.
As if that weren’t already fabulously yummy, now the smarties at DreamWorks Animation are making a GORGEOUS movie with ALL of the Guardians of Childhood!!!
Mark your calendars for NOVEMBER 21st, 2012. RISE OF THE GUARDIANS, it is going to blow us all away!
Another incredible book company that we want to mention is AMAZON PUBLISHING. They were so “AWESOME” to donate 365 copies of Dallas Clayton’s second awesome book to our donors at today’s 3rd Annual Story Time.
We thought it was the most appropriate way to say THANKS!
WE LOVE THIS BOOK
Thanks to the VERY generous people at Scholastic Inc., today’s 3rd Annual Story Time celebration donated 1,000 new books to kids in need.
The books were divided and given to READY SET READ, OPERATION SCHOOL BELL and BOOKROOTS.
We are so excited to send boxes to such well deserving organizations. And we couldn’t do it without the help of the incredible company that is Scholastic Inc.!
Seriously, we are over the moon – just like the cow who jumped over it (this ice cream must be made from that cow’s milk – it is OUT OF THIS WORLD delish).
McConnell’s is from Santa Barbara, California and is made from only the highest quality and organic ingredients. It’s been family run since 1949.
Check your grocer’s freezer for some, we favor Vanilla Bean.
We just might up and change our name to “Milkshakes + Bookies”.
